In 2005 the Welland/Pelham Chamber of Commerce was successful in obtaining an Ontario Trillium Grant to conduct a Needs Analysis for a Special Events Resource Centre.
The report indicated that there was a strong need for such a resource in our community. Many not-for-profit groups, who were hosting special events, festivals, or community programs at the time, were finding it increasingly difficult to continue to deliver a high caliber program.
Subsequently in November of 2007, the Chamber was successful in obtaining funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in order to make the Resource Centre a reality. Since that time the Welland/Pelham Chamber of Commerce has been successful in meeting the goals set for the Special Events Resource Centre within the past twelve months.
The Chamber has been able to provide equipment and resources to local non-profit groups to run special 
events in the area. The end result will be to ensure the sustainability of the Special Events Resource Centre, in order to provide local non-profit organizations with the assistance they need in order to maintain and grow their events in the future.
